Rotary Club of Lan Kwai Fong

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Club President for the 2009-2010 Rotary year.  I would like to express my deepest respect to the Board Members and I very much look forward to working with you to exemplify the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self”.

Our Club was chartered in May of Year 2008. Over the past year as the Chairman of Service Projects & President Elect, I have been able to learn the Rotary missions as my goals and the means to these goals by 4 Way Test. I would like to thank Eva Chiu for her leadership over the past year as Charter President. I would also like to express my gratitude to Dr. Vito Lee (Special Rep. of District 3450 and Past President of Rotary Club of New Territories), who has demonstrated the spirit of Rotarians to provide guidance on running the club and achieving our goals. With great support from our Members we have been able to implement service projects and programs that are highly recognized by the District 3450.  In particular, we are much honored to be awarded the Best Community Service Project with the “Life Decode” service project.  Over the past year, we have helped a group of Youth-at-Risk to cease violence. The activities include camping, skills training, moot court, war-game, project closing ceremony, journal publishing and fund raising ball.

This year the Board has ambitious plans to enrich and continue the success with “Life Decode II” that will take the service project to another level with larger scale and wider audience in the community.  Echoing the citation from the President of Rotary International John Kenny, we strongly believe that membership development and retention are integral to the success of not only the Club of Lan Kwai Fong but also the future of Rotary family to continue the Rotary's mission of humanitarian service. 

If you have a heart to serve, and are willing to share your time, talent and resources with others, I encourage you to look into being a part of the Rotary Club of Lan Kwai Fong.  You’re welcome to join our regular meetings on every Wednesday and service projects to find out more of what we do.  Consider taking advantage of this rewarding opportunity to be a part of something larger than yourself and contribute to the betterment of people’s lives in the world.
